India C vs India B – On Thursday Ruturaj Gaikwad who is India C captain was forced to retire hurt early in the match of Duleep Trophy against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium “B” in Anantapur. The
Chennai Super Kings skipper had just faced two balls in the match when an unfortunate ankle injury
occurred, sidelining him from the remainder of the innings.

After India C was asked to bat first, Gaikwad made an immediate impact, smashing India B pacer
Mukesh Kumar for a boundary on the very first ball of the game. However, disaster struck on the
following delivery, when Gaikwad twisted his ankle while attempting a run. He was unable to
continue and had to retire hurt, dealing a significant blow to his team’s early momentum.
In his place, Madhya Pradesh’s Rajat Patidar stepped in at number three in the first over, joining
opener Sai Sudharsan to steady the ship after the untimely exit of their captain.

Gaikwad’s Recent Heroics in the Duleep Trophy India C vs India B

This injury comes just after Gaikwad’s stellar performance in the previous round of the Duleep
Trophy, where his leadership and batting prowess had been key to India C’s thrilling victory over
India D. Chasing a target of 236 runs, Gaikwad had provided his team with a brisk start, scoring a 48-
ball 46. Despite his efforts, a dramatic collapse had put India C in a precarious position before Manav
Suthar and Abishek Porel’s resilience guided them to a win.

A Challenging Red-Ball Journey of Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad’s injury is the latest setback in what has been a stop-start red-ball career for the 27-year-
old. Gaikwad was named in the Test squad of India for the South Africa tour last December which
was a significant moment for his career. However, an injury to his ring finger ruled him out of the
series, and he has yet to make his way back into the Test squad since then.
Despite these challenges, Gaikwad has continued to demonstrate his talent across formats, most
notably leading Chennai Super Kings to IPL success. As India C awaits updates on his fitness, fans will
be hoping for a speedy recovery as Gaikwad looks to regain his red-ball form and push for a spot in
the Indian Test setup once again.
For now, India C will look to bounce back from the early setback and make the most of the Duleep
Trophy match without their inspirational leader.
